Do you know Where the Bears Are?

Where the Bears Are - Charlie O’Brien - Wooden Bear Carving WelcomeWhere the Bears Are - Charlie O’Brien - Wooden Bear CarvingSculptor, Charlie O’Brien, is a master at creating the most amazing carved wooden bears. These sculptures are so much fun and truly adorable representations. Some of them even have names!

He carves these wooden bears from sections of huge trees using a chain saw and any other tools that are needed. You can have the artist make them to order or simply purchase one that he has carved using his own creativity. In fact, if you want to, you can even watch him carve and see the chips fly.

So if you are heading up to Vermont and want to stop by, he is on the right on Rte 100 as you drive north from Waterbury Ctr, from Rte 89 to Stowe. Then you can say that you know Where the Bears Are too.

Hi! Aren't those little guys adorable. You could almost talk to them.

These pictures here are of bears from two of the other carvers who work with Charlie. The one with the Welcome sign is by Glenn Acker, a carver from Warren, Vt. The glossy-eyed little guy is one of John Ketonen's bears. John lives in Massachusetts and brings his work up for Charlie to sell.

On site at the shop are lots of other carvings, and more will come this spring. Charlie is currently working on three life-size standing bears for clients who order custom carvings. They're incredible! He also carves benches and tables and lots of other creatures (wolves, moose, dogs, birds, dragons, faeries, totem poles, and so much more).
